Its a little known fact, but Google has actually been around for some time. This old Google query card was recently found in the NYC public research library at Bryant Park. The card was sent to a master office in California, there the request was passed on to a panel made up of a representative from each UC school. Each member of the panel would then go back to their team at each individual university and search for related material in their libraries. As shown on the bottom of the card, google needed a full month before results would come back. What would people do with their time? Thanks to the internet Google has been able to flourish and the turn around time has been shortened to a few miliseconds, but the process is still the same (just more grad students researching). But seriously, this is a really neat imagining of a google from a bygone era of typewriters, snail mail, and the Dharma Initiative.
